Quality wealthy man's accommodation at working man's prices on an Island within an Island yet only 15 mins drive from the main land and London in less than an hour.

The boys have been beating and shooting since youngsters and now mature they have learned how to make a days sport of any kind as successful as can be achieved within the weather on the day.  Totally committed shooting people that give their best on every occasion.

Why can I say these things?  Well I’ve been shooting over 60 years all over the country and abroad.  I’ve seen the accommodation and known the boys for what seems like ever and have no hesitation putting my name to their operation and recommending them.

For those who haven’t visited the Isle of Sheppey I recommend Darren Ollerenshaw’s excellent partridge shoot, particularly on a warm early autumn day.

Convene at the Ferry House Inn which is attractively sited on the south side of the island overlooking the Swale. The landlord, Alex, serves a traditional English breakfast with all the trimmings to set you up for the day.

The shooting takes place  across the gently rolling hills of Sheppey which is a wild, unspoilt and beautiful place, with views across the water to Faversham and Whitstable on the north Kent coast.

Enjoy a game pie lunch back at the Inn if required or certainly, at the end of the day, a good pint of English ale by the water’s edge to swap stories.

I along with a team of friends have been shooting with the Burden family at Harty, or with Darren on the neighbouring ‘Sheppey farmers’ shoot for more years than I care to remember.

The hospitality is second to none from the time we meet in the Ferry House Inn for breakfast to the time we leave.

What’s great about shooting on Sheppey is the open space, we can all see each other shoot some of the best partridges in Kent, there’s no rushing through the day, and it’s really nice to watch the picking up team work behind you.

I cannot finish without mentioning the meal afterwards, back at the Ferry House Inn where we enjoy some fine wine and a rib of some of the best beef ever produced on their own farms.

I could not recommend the opportunity to enjoy this shooting and hospitality more highly.
